I am an Assistant Professor of Urban Administration at the University of Seoul, South Korea. I hold a Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a Master's in City Planning and B.A. in Anthropology from Seoul National University.
My research examines how sustainability-oriented innovations become embedded in institutions, policies, and everyday practices across urban and regional contexts. Drawing on theories of sustainability transitions, spatial justice, and urban politics, I use food systems, urban design, and spatial planning initiatives as lenses to understand how planning can advance social equity, strengthen environmental resilience, and improve quality of life in everyday settings.
As a planning scholar, I am particularly interested in how public policies and planning programs can be designed, implemented, and evaluated more effectively to turn policy agendas into tangible improvements in people’s lived experiences. This practice-oriented approach connects my research on institutional change with the challenge of making planning ideas work in practice.
