I am an Assistant Professor of Urban Administration at the University of Seoul, South Korea. I hold a Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a Master's in City Planning and B.A. in Anthropology from Seoul National University.
My research examines how sustainability-oriented innovations become embedded in institutions, policies, and everyday practices across urban and regional contexts. Drawing on theoretical frameworks of sustainability transitions, spatial justice, and collaborative governance, I use case studies such as food systems, urban design, and spatial planning initiatives to understand how planning can support social equity, environmental resilience, and everyday quality of life.
As a planning scholar, I am particularly interested in how public policies and planning programs can be designed, implemented, and evaluated more effectively to turn policy agendas into tangible improvements in people’s lived experiences. This practice-oriented approach connects my research on institutional change with the challenge of making planning ideas work in practice.
